Wow that's a hard question. 🤔 I have often pondered this but never been able to recast anyone cause the original actors just seem so perfect to me. But hmm...giving it some more thought...🤔 There's an elvish extra from the first Hobbit movie who I think would make a good Lególas. Jarred Blakiston-Lególas: He should still be a good age for the role. This is him with blond hair He's also got a good look for Haldir. I'll have to give some more thought for the other characters and come add more later. Back when the original movies came out I thought Christopher Khaymen Lee would have also made a good Lególas. But he's definitely too old now.

This is him with blond hair Yes, he does make a good Legolas. I like the dark hair. The case for a blonde Legolas is a direct link to the mention in the Hobbit that Thuranduil had 'golden' hair, and he case for a dark-haired Legolas is rotted in the deeper genetics of the Elven houses in The Silmarillion. So technically they both can be 'right'. Personally, I always pictured Legolas with dark hair when I read the books, so that first gif you have of Jarred Blakiston really fits my mind's eye's vision of him. Yes it's difficult to put the original movie cast out of mind when thinking of contemporary actors to fill the part. I'm having a hard time replacing Ian Holm as older Bilbo, but I think Martin Freeman could play the part. He was th e best thing about the Hobbit movie in my opinion.

Yeah I thought Martin Freeman was great! I'd be totally cool with seeing him as Bilbo in an LOTR remake. I've been giving this recasting so much thought and the only other character I have an actor in mind for is Galadriel. I think Blake Lively has a pretty good look for Galadriel.

Oh wow, I would never have thought of Lothaire for Denethor - but I'm picturing it and it would be perfect!

I hardly know enough actors and actresses to contribute to this, but I have to agree that it would be an extremely hard task.
I couldn’t hardly see anyone else as Aragorn. I think Arwen and Galadriel would be the easiest to replace. (No offense to people who like them) Gimli and Legolas would probably come next, but I’ve got no idea who I’d cast.
Oddly, Theoden is another I’d have a really hard time re-casting. He did a perfect job I feel.

I don't see it being that hard at all as there is some great talent out there that would really capture the feel of the characters. I think the hard part would be getting a proper screenplay that tells a more accurate Lord of the Rings story without so much outlandish reaches of fanfic. It is a hard follow to be Aragorn after the epic performance Viggo did. I will say I considered Christopler Dayne who played Arathorn II in Born of Hope would make a good Boromir, and Clive Standen would make a good Theoden or Denethor. I say both because he could pull off the look of Theoden but I think his acting style would fit well to a proper Denethor character screenplay. I could see Kathryn Winnick as Eowyn, and even possibly Galadriel, though I think her battle training she did for Vikings would suit Eowyn better.

I think a lot of my difficulty is not knowing that most of these people exist. That and I’m just very partial to the actors in those roles I think would be hard to replace. But yes, the closer to the books a person could get, the better.
